The SPOTLIGHT project aims to demonstrate an innovative process for the production of solar fuels, where the photonic device will facilitate efficient sunlight-powered conversion of CO2 and green H2 to the chemical fuel CH4 (Sabatier process) and to CO (reverse water gas shift process, rWGS) as starting material for production of the chemical fuel CH3OH.
The accomplishment of the project, which involves several European partners, would not only transform CO2 from an unwanted greenhouse gas to a raw material for the production of a bio-fuel, but also reduce Europe’s dependence on non-European regions for energy supply.
THE ROLE OF ENVIPARK
Envipark, in cooperation with ACEA Pinerolese, will participate in the project for the process validation with a view to possible application in the industrial frameworks and will contribute to the active dissemination of the project results to potentially interested industrial stakeholders.
